West 20 Presents

This is a FREE CLINIC, open to ALL!

  • Understand what the judge will be looking for in the performance of the horse and performance from the showman/rider.
  • How to prepare for your class and how being prepared will work to your advantage.
  • Understand the importance of horse/rider turnout and how this can impact getting that blue ribbon.

SCHEDULE
9-11:30am Showmanship & Halter
11:30-Noon Lunch - food stand on grounds
12-2pm Hunter Under Saddle & Equiation
2-4pm Western Pleasure & Horsemanship

Use these skills the following day at the West 20 Beat the Heat Winter Series!

Reservations required!

  • Negative Coggins must be shown and a copy left with the show office, for each show ($1 fee will be charged for each copy we make).
  • A stall must be purchased for the day: $20
  • Shavings: $6/bag
  • Overnight stalls available (for those competing in our Beat the Show on March 21: $15

Dana Panella a WSHC and WI 4-H carded judge, and has been showing horses for over 25 years. Based in Hartland, Wisconsin, Dana has coached over 20 WI 4-H State Expo Grand and Reserve Champions, 3 All-Around Champions, and numerous top ten winners in Showmanship, Equitation, Horsemanship, Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure. Her clients have won national and regional awards in AQHA competition, Reserve International, and World Championships in POA. In addition to her busy schedule, Dana judges about 30 show a year.

Karla J. Kegley brings over 25 years experience in the horse industry with her into the ring and was 2009 WSHC Judge of the Year. As an exhibitor, she has shown from the 4-H level to the breed show level. As a judge she brings a fair and level playing field to each contestant every time they step into the ring.
