Corey Wilson

Corey grew up on the central coast of California. He always had an interest in horses, but spent most of his time at the beach and playing sports during his high school days. After graduation Corey enrolled in a college program to become an EMT, and jumped at an opportunity to become more involved with horses and riding when he wasn't studying. He soon discovered that he liked riding more than anything else and began searching for ways to make that his career.

Corey attended an equine vocational college in San Diego, directed by Clarence Chown. Upon graduating, in 1998, he took an internship with NRHA Professional, Allen Mitchels, in Indiana, and soon moved into a full time position. Corey's responsibilities included starting and training colts, and training and maintaining the older reining and cutting horses. Corey spent five years with Mitchels Training Stables before moving on.

In 2003, Corey took an opportunity to go work for Brett Stone in Utah. While there he started the new colts and worked with the older show horses. When another opportunity presented itself for him to go to Ohio and work for Margaret Fuchs and Saddle Creek Farms, Corey took it. After spending most of 2004 at SCF, Corey made the step to be on his own. He returned to northwest Indiana with a goal to be the top reining horse trainer in the state.

Corey, and his wife, Hannah, own and operate Wilson Performance Horses and provide quality horsemanship for both horse and rider. Their training program builds confidence and teaches correctness. Moving forward and progressing is a goal of WPH. Corey and Hannah work hard to provide an environment where the clients and horses are not intimidated and feel comfortable at their individual levels.

She enjoys watching her students and horses gain confidence and improve their skill in the show pen. Jennifer encourages a solid work ethic, patience with the learning process, and a total team effort amongst her riders. She has successfully coached her non-pros to NRHA and AQHA wins, and multiple AHA Regional Top 5’s.

Jennifer also serves on the Board of Directors for the Midwest Cow Horse and Reining Association and is the Charter Representative for the Minnesota Ranch Horse Association. She works with both of these organizations to promote entry-level and amateur competition in the Midwest. Jennifer operates her training business, LongShot Farm, in Stillwater, MN.
